A. MEETING
VOCABULARY
ex:
- Could you send out the agenda for Friday's meeting,
please?
=> to send out an agenda
[to send a plan for what will be discussed]
- The main objective of this meeting is to agree on a
budget
=> main objective
[the primary aim]
- Yolanda is sick, so she will be absent from the meeting
today
=> to be absent
[to be not present]
- Can we have a show of hands for those who agree with
the proposal?
=> a show of hand
[a vote made by raising hands in the air to show agreement]
- Francesca will give a presentation on health and safety
=> to give a presentation
[to present information to a group of people]
- Today we need to look at our sales figures for the last
year
=> to look at
[to consider or focus on something]
B. WHAT PEOPLE SAID
- When telling co-workers what someone else said, you can
take what they said (direct speech) and rephrase it accurately and
clearly.
- This is called reported speech.
